There are a few rules that all of the Twitter community follows, some of which are ideally true. From my 5 years of experience and around 16K Tweets, I am jotting down some of it's basic ones.
- Rule#1
Don't bring your family on Twitter, this ain't a picnic spot.
- Rule#2
Love your critics, they help you get to better tweets.
- Rule#3
Take respect and give respect, and maybe give some RTs too.
- Rule#4
You have too many problems in your life, you come to Twitter just to hide from them. Don't make it harder.
- Rule#5
Don't get attached to anyone, you might know who might exist on Twitter tomorrow. Internet packs are a bit costly nowadays.
- Rule#6
You are what you are, don't ruin yourself just because you want to impress some one.
- Rule#7
Never reveal your true identity.
Unless it's a hot chick or guy.
- Rule#8
Stop being a cry baby, no one cares for your sorrows. Buckle up and tweet your life stories as examples to others.
- Rule#9
Your friends might make fun of you for being on Twitter. Just ignore them. You need their life stories as part of your funny tweets.
- Rule#10
Never forget the path and the people who made you what you are. On and off Twitter.
- Rule#11
No one cares about "typos", unless what you intend is conveyed.
- Rule#12
DMs or Direct Messages are only used to share email ids or Phone numbers or maybe on a larger scale to spread rumors and gossips.
- Rule#13
Sarcasm and Sex are the two topics which get you notable attention on Twitter. Use both of them together and produce a quality tweet. Bingo! You are a star overnight.
- Rule#14:
Twitter does promote "narcissism" but every one loves to be narcissistic, right?
Anyways narcissistic tweets are the best.
- Rule#15
Love Twitter. It's the only place you will find people with a huge sense of freedom. Though it's half of what Facebook is, it is the best I have found. People who love playing with words are the main attraction on Twitter.
Twitter has the negatives too, that pretty much all of internet has, so it's just about spreading love and knowledge between the different communities of the world.
